I CRIED DURING THIS SCENE! TT-TT And this full grown man with his children sitting next to me was crying as well XD I needed some Kirk/Spock after that movie... There were so many scenes in that movie that were just oozing this ship X3
Oh god, I saw the movie, and I'm planning to go see it again, and I swear the next time I watch this scene the song Through Glass will go through my head and I'll be bawling my eyes out all over again. ;n;
look, no disrespect, but if you have a problem with other people's pastimes, we would appreciate it if you would respect our choices and leave us be. You don't have to like us, simply respect our individual preferences. If that is too difficult for you, I am sincerely sorry. And in all honesty, you're the one looking at the picture.
It's just that I notice this trend of whenever there are two platonic male friends in a story, there will always be some percentage of the fanbase that decides they should be lovers. My issue with this, is that men in real life have a lot of preconceived notions about masculinity. The majority of heterosexual men value their masculinity, and for a long time it's been considered un-masculine to be too sensitive or close with male friends. This is something I'd like to see change, because I think male friends being able to open up to each other without someone questioning their sexuality is a good thing.
So when I see two straight male protagonists of a famous sci-fi adventure series being paired up like they're in love, simply because they visibly care about one another, it irritates me.
In conclusion, it's not that I don't like you or that I don't respect your individual preferences. It's that I think your attempts to be progressive in shipping these two heterosexual characters is, ironically, a little counter productive.
Wow, ok, if you put it that way, I really feel like a bitch. But in all honesty no one (except maybe ridiculously radical fans) really in their heart of hearts believe that these people are gay, it's just silly fun. No offence intended, and you're right, it is awesome how close they are. Now if you'll excuse me I'm gonna go lock my self-esteem issues back in their little box, they seem to have escaped during the course of this exchange.
No you explained yourself fine, and you have a good point. You just kind of hit me unexpectedly with it. Most people rage about it without really giving a good reason behind their dislike so they're just put aside as being homophobic, it's actually kind of refreshing to be presented with a solid argument. And honestly I can relate cause a friend of mine and I are really close, as in really hard to explain but practically Kirk and Spock close, but since she is bisexual and I have never been romantically involved with anyone, it's always assumed that we're lesbian together. And it ticks me off so much because it's just like, these people don't even know me at all and then they have the gall to presume such bullcrap about me and my best friend? So yeah, I get where you are coming from.
This great! Oh gosh when saw simlar scene in trailer I was like Wrath of Khan reference! Actually my husband metioned it at first I didn't belive it till I watch trailer serval times and now it makes sense! Oh I'm gonna cry if there another scene where Spock dies!
